For photos rescued from old CDs, cards and disks

Put shifted and wrongly coloured photos back together

Photos recovered from a broken memory card, CD or disk often open fine at the top, and from some line down the picture slides sideways and takes on the wrong colours: too bright, too dark, green, pink, red or blue, sometimes grey. Most of the picture is usually still in the file.

What to expect

What was lost from the file can't be brought back. memories.repair takes the parts of your photo that survived, puts them back where they belong as well as it can and fixes their colours. The gaps between them are filled in, so they look blurry: you get your photo put back together, not the original as it was. The exception: if you have another copy of the same photo, the lost parts may have survived in it.

Real damage, repaired automatically

Each of these photos lost a few kilobytes, the way old CDs lose them. Nothing was touched by hand: this is what you get before nudging anything.

How it works

  1. 1. Upload the damaged photo

You see right away what is wrong with it: how much was lost, where, and whether the camera's small preview inside the file survived.

  2. 2. The pieces go back in place

Everything after a lost part is still there, only out of place. Each piece is lined up again and its colours corrected; the gaps are filled in.

  3. 3. Check, adjust, download

Pieces that might be off are marked. Nudge them with the arrow buttons if you like, then download your photo in full quality.

Pay only for the photos you keep

Uploading, the diagnosis, the preview and adjusting the repair are free. One credit downloads one repaired photo in full quality, without the watermark. Credits never expire.

Prices in euros; the checkout shows the exact amount with the VAT of your country. Payments are handled by Paddle, our reseller. You buy credits on your account page after signing in. See also the refund policy.

What it repairs

  • JPEG photos that are shifted, discoloured or grey from some point down.
  • Photos copied from old CDs and DVDs, and files recovered with PhotoRec, Recuva, Disk Drill and similar tools.
  • Photos whose beginning was lost, with the help of an intact photo from the same camera.
  • Several damaged copies of the same photo: put together, they often give the whole photo back.

What it can't do

  • Bring back what was lost from the file: those parts are only filled in, so they look blurry.
  • Repair overwritten or encrypted files, or RAW, HEIC, PNG and progressive JPEG files.
  • Promise a result: some photos can't be saved. You see the repair before you pay.
